About Mackenzie Anderson
I was born and raised on a mixed farm outside of Trochu, Alberta. I grew up riding horses and completed 9 years in 4-H. I currently own four mares: Tru Cee Bee (APHA), Miss Lahaina (AQHA), Hannafords TaylorSwift (miniature), and Hanafords Trixs (miniature) and one gelding; Buzzsaw McCleary (OTTB). I casually show Lahaina and Cee Bee in all around events at open shows, as well as have started showing my mom's APHA mare Daisy.
I bought my first DSLR camera in 2013 and fell in love with capturing the world around me, especially equines and the bond between horse and rider. I started posting personal photos as Tru Equine Photography in 2015, and in 2017, I started shooting professionally as the Alberta Paint Horse Club's official show photographer. Since my transition to shooting professionally I've been fortunate enough to photograph numerous horse shows, several graduation portrait sessions, and a number of weddings. I love having the opportunity to photograph people's achievements and milestones and look forward to capturing many more!
Education
I've completed a high school introductory photography class, as well as completed 5 advanced projects. I received above average marks and positive comments from the teacher on all of my assignments. I also took a day course at Olds College, by Cheryl Smythe, on equine portraits. After completing my BSc in Agriculture Degree, I have taken numerous online photography courses to further broaden my knowledge and fine-tune my skills.
